Generator Exhaust
Combined silencer and separator with dry discharge up the stack, and optional dry silencer
Silent generators make enjoyable evenings, and this system also allows the exhaust gas to be dispersed from the top of the stack to avoid fumes on deck. Exhaust gas leaves the generator via a high riser (and optional dry silencer), cooling water is then injected, reducing the temperature to approximately 50C. The gas and water mix then passes into Halyard’s unique combined silencer and water separator, silencing the gas and then removing almost all the cooling water to drain away below the hull. The gas can then pass to a secondary water separator (dealing with any condensate), and on up the stack to a final condenser. The system has been perfected by Halyard over 15 years, more recently incorporating soot burners, and achieves the quietest, cleanest and most odour free exhaust available today.
