Halyard’s Resonator Silencer
Halyard Marine Ltd, a leader in the design and manufacture of marine exhaust silencing and engine noise reduction solutions has entered its patented Resonator Silencer into the Seawork 2007 Innovations Showcase taking place on 12-14 June.
The Innovations showcase is a Seawork initiative designed to publicly reward the very best in innovation. In addition, it provides visitors at the show with the opportunity to view the best new products introduced into the marine industry during the past 12 months.
First launched at the end of 2006, Halyard’s Resonator Silencer is a world leading technical breakthrough in the reduction of exhaust noise by filtering out specific problem noise frequencies from a band centred around the engine’s firing frequency. Whether a straight 6 cylinder engine or a V16, the Resonator Silencer significantly reduces the overall engine noise emitted.
Halyard is the first company to apply resonator technology to water-injected marine silencers. The technology has been welcomed by many of the leading boat manufacturers and is already standard on Fairline and Sunseeker models.
In addition to offering remarkable improvements in noise emissions, Halyard’s Resonator Silencer can be engineered to be significantly smaller than conventional silencers, offering enormous space-saving benefits to yacht designers and boat builders.
The new Resonator Silencer is being manufactured in the UK by Halyard, the only company in the world able to manufacture an entire exhaust solution in-house and also the only company worldwide to have Lloyd’s Type Approval on its entire range of GRP exhaust components, hose and silicone couplings.
Visitors to Seawork will also be able to take full advantage of talking to Halyard’s technical team on Stand 143, who will be available to advise customers about the most effective way to use and install Halyard products. All products are designed to allow easy installation and come complete with fitting instructions.
Other key products from the Halyard range will be on display throughout the show and include:
Wavestream Bilge Filtration Systems
Halyard’s Wavestream bilge filter enables boat owners and operators to comply with the increasingly stringent environmental standards applied to commercial and leisure vessels. Easy to install into any size or type of vessel, Wavestream uses a cylindrical cartridge filter fitting into the line between the bilge pump and the through hull outlet. The actual cartridge uses a patented technology that attracts the oil content of the bilge water to bond to the filter element. A saturated filter can be easily replaced in minutes. The used cartridges can be disposed of in the same way as other oily waste, such as designated bins, or by incineration.
Aquadrive vibration coupling control coupling
Designed to reduce structure borne noise and vibration up to 90% and overall noise levels by up to 75%. The Aquadrive reduces the transmission of noise and vibration to the hull by providing the necessary freedom of movement from the driveshaft, also allowing soft mounts to be used giving a further reduction in vibration/structure borne noise.
Exhaust Alert and Sea Strainer Alarm Systems
These monitoring systems will signal if the exhaust gases reach dangerous levels or if you experience a reduced water flow from your sea strainer.
GRP Exhaust Silencers & Water Separators
Lloyd’s Register Type Approved and offering noise reductions of up to 80% when installed together.
Noise Insulation Materials
Zero fire rated and compliant with the Recreational Craft Directive and capable of reducing structure borne noise by up to 75%, this material is available in various thicknesses, with a choice of facing materials to best suit its application.
Rubber & Silicone exhaust hose, bellows & bends
Lloyd’s Register Type Approved, MDE (Marine Diesel Exhaust) hose, reinforced and capable of withstanding temperatures up to 110°C. MDE is available in standard lengths or custom sizes with ‘cuffed’ ends for specific installations. Alternatively Halyard design and manufacture silicone couplings and connectors, which offer significantly higher performance absorbing more of the engine vibration and able to withstand temperatures of up to 250°C.
