Halyard announces Asafl ehf as Icelandic distributor

Halyard, Europe’s largest designer and manufacturer of specialist marine exhaust systems, has appointed Asafl ehf as distributor for its products in Iceland.

Asafl ehf was established in 2007 and specialises in the distribution and servicing of marine engines and all machinery parts for fishing fleets, merchant fleets and the general boat building industry in Iceland.

The fishing industry constitutes more than 50% of Icelandic exports, making it the most prominent industry in the country. Asafl ehf was selected by Halyard because of its significant presence within the Icelandic marine market.

In particular, Asafl ehf will enable Halyard to forge a strong relationship with Trefjar ehf. Trefjar has been established for over 25 years and is a highly acclaimed boat builder, renowned for the production of the most popular fishing boat brand in Iceland. Asafl ehf’s Chairman, Auoun Oskarsson is the original founder of Trejfar and is aiming to introduce Halyard’s products to its production line.

Headquartered in Salisbury, Halyard is now Europe’s largest designer and manufacturer of marine exhaust systems, employing 90 people and concentrating on applications for craft between 15m and 100m.
