Halyard showcases new products at Seawork International
Stand 140
Halyard, Europe’s largest designer and manufacturer of specialist marine exhaust systems will be showcasing two of its newest products on stand 140 at this year’s Seawork International Exhibition 10 – 12 June. Halyard, a British company and 2006 winner of the prestigious Queen’s Award for Innovation, will have its new water separator and CV48 Aquadrive on display throughout the duration of the show.
Halyard has invested £25,000 in the development of its new water separator which will be moulded using high temperature polypropylene. Water separators are fitted into wet exhaust systems after Halyard’s silencer, which is built to withstand the high temperatures which can occur if the cooling water intake blocks. The new unit separates the cool gases and water, dramatically reducing noise and back pressure. Water then drains silently away below the waterline with the gas exiting above the waterline.
Developed from Halyard’s existing two inch moulded water separator, the company’s new unit has been specifically created to comply with stringent new emission standards that make it necessary for new marine generators to be manufactured with three inch exhaust outlets. The new standards affect generators from around 18Kw sold in Europe, which means that most manufacturers will adopt the standard for worldwide sales.
The separator has been tested with generators with raw flow rates of up to 62 litres per minute, being the highest coolant flow of any generator with a three inch exhaust. In time, Halyard will raise the 62 litre limit as practical experience increases. In addition, fibre glass models of the new separator have been tested extensively against a wide variety of generators to ensure that the new design is capable of handling all combinations of gas and water flow.
The new water separator will reduce the cost to the end user by up to 40% against Halyard’s original three inch water separator which was constructed using Glass Reinforced Plastic (GRP).
The water separator is being manufactured in the UK by Halyard, the only company in the world able to manufacture an entire exhaust solution in-house and also the only company worldwide to have Lloyd’s Type Approval on its entire range of GRP exhaust components, hose and silicone couplings.
Halyard will also be exhibiting the latest addition to the renowned Aquadrive family with the launch of the Aquadrive CV48.
Distributed in the UK by Halyard, Aquadrives are designed to reduce structure borne noise and vibration by up to 90% and overall noise levels by up to 75%. An Aquadrive will reduce the transmission of noise and vibration to the hull by providing the necessary freedom of movement from the driveshaft, also allowing soft mounts to be used, giving a further reduction in vibration/structure borne noise.
The latest CV size will fill a gap for boats utilising mid range 500-900 horsepower engines. This will provide the perfect solution for cases where systems with the CV42 are too weak and the CV60 too heavy. The new CV48 shaft makes Aquadrive an even more flexible system with the ability to dramatically solve noise and vibration problems for almost any boat from 5hp to 1200hp.
