Halyard offers the chance to enjoy environmentally friendly boating in just a few simple steps at the Southampton Boat Show

Halyard’s stand at this year’s Southampton Boat Show is the place to visit for a range of products designed to help protect the environment, and make boating more pleasurable.

Whether wanting to reduce engine noise, eliminate vibration on board, prevent discharge of oily waste water, or even ensure safety thanks to ingenious engine overheating and sea strainer alarms, Halyard’s off the shelf solutions are easy to install and use.

The company and its products
Halyard is a leading specialist in noise, vibration and anti-pollution solutions, offering a range of products as well as technical help, information and advice for boat owners and users.  Established for over 25 years, Halyard supplies off the shelf and custom design products direct to end users, and is a leading supplier of custom and bespoke systems for the larger leisure, superyacht and commercial marine sectors.  Halyard is the only company in the world to offer the internationally recognised Lloyd’s Register Type Approval on its products.

Bilge filters
One of the most important steps a leisure boat owner can take to help protect the fragile marine environment is to install a Wavestream bilge filter.  This compact filter is easily installed between the bilge pump and outlet, and removes all traces of oil or pollution from the bilge discharge water.  Available in a range of sizes, with replaceable filters, the Wavestream range is Lloyd’s approved and is commonly used on vessels including superyachts and supertankers, as a final cleansing solution.

Noise reduction
With engines and exhaust systems creating noise pollution both for those on board, and for neighbours, Halyard manufactures a range of engine and exhaust silencer systems and components which can reduce noise on board by between 40 and 90 per cent.  Products available include complete GRP silencers, exhaust water separator systems for generators and main engines, and transom flappers.

In January 2007, Halyard launched its award winning Resonator Silencer. The Resonator Silencer is a world leading technical breakthrough in the reduction of exhaust noise by filtering out specific problem noise frequencies from a band centred around the engine’s firing frequency. Whether a straight 6 cylinder engine or a V16, the Resonator Silencer significantly reduces the overall engine noise emitted.

Halyard also supplies a range of noise control materials, which can be used around engine compartments, and other internal areas.  Available in a range of thicknesses, with the choice of self-adhesive and fire retardant coatings, Halyard noise insulation materials offer a cost effective, easy and practical means of improving noise pollution on board.

Eliminating vibration
If vibration is adding to the noise and discomfort on board, then Halyard’s Aquadrive provides the answer.  This easy to install coupling aligns the engine to the drive shaft, absorbing any engine movement and eliminating vibration from the drive shaft to the propeller.

Safety products
With safety and the protection of your boat and crew uppermost, Halyard has also developed a range of easy to install products including the Sea Strainer and Exhaust Alert alarm systems.  These are designed to automatically alert boat owners to a blockage in the sea water intakes, or the exhaust system.  If not noticed quickly, these blockages can cause a water cooled engine to overheat.

All these products, plus plenty of helpful technical advice, is available from the Halyard stand, or for more information please contact Halyard (Marine & Industrial) Limited, Sales Department, Whaddon Business Park, Southampton Road, Whaddon, Salisbury, SP5 3HF, Tel +44 (0)1722 710922, Fax +44 (0)1722 710975 or visit the web site at www.halyard.eu.com
